What Does Being In A Relationship Mean To You?

You can have happy, fulfilled relationship too. But it takes a little effort, some emotional work and self-reflection.

Things CAN improve when you understand what is wrong? It could be that you are doing your best! Maybe you feel that it’s all your fault? Have all your attempts to fix your relationship failed? Maybe it’s not as easy as it sounds! Often, it is easier to just say ‘Yes’, but you are left filled with self-doubt. And sometimes, saying ‘Yes’ leaves you feeling Frustrated, Angry or Resentful, because you’ve likely been misunderstood or not heard.

Various attachment styles underpin all our relationships. Human beings are wired for belonging and connection, fulfilled through our interactions with others. Unresolved emotional issues arising from adverse childhood experiences (ACE) can prevent us forming healthy attachments and stable relationships in adulthood . Neglect in childhood can disrupt early stages of emotional development and cause long term symptoms. Family dysfunction from alcohol abuse and other addictions can lead to a host of emotional problems and dysfunctional behaviour in later life such as low self esteem, eating disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorder (c-PTSD) which can also have a knock on effect on relationships.

Don’t wait until the anxiety and depression in your relationship weighs you down.

Negative self-beliefs from early traumatic childhood associations remain stuck deeply in the subconscious mind and play havoc into relationships.
